On a boat trip

Cruising is a rather bonehead way of wasting good vacation time, but I guess that's the condition of the human condition - a lot of folks are just taking up space on the Planet.

So what can we expect from the folks who host them. Fact is, if Carnival turned the ship around they might lose some "precious" money - and two people died.

mydestination award 4 John Gray's Sea Canoe

John Gray and his team won another award - well deserved.

John Gray's Sea Canoe Overview

The original pioneer to explore sea caves in Phang Nga Bay, John 'Caveman' Gray was the first to reveal the caves in the limestone outcrops of Phang Nga Bay. In 1989, he established the award-winning sea tour company, Sea Canoe. An American naturalist and nature enthusiast, Gray had established canoeing tours in Hawaii, Vietnam, Fiji, Australia and the Philippines prior to his arrival in Phuket.
Gray went on to found John Gray's Sea Canoe based on the ecotourism and business models that made his previous one so successful and the recipient of many awards.
A trip with the company is an adventure to remember. Guests not only learn about the environment they experience but also theories and practices of environmental conservation. Guides have been with Gray from 15 and 20 years and are well-versed in safety and first aid as well as the environment and paddling. The company has adopted an environmental education and activist platform that includes journalism, video productions, teaching in universities and non-violent activism such as clean ups.
Trips around Phuket include day trips in Phang Nga Bay, an Exedition Overnighter of two days and one night, three days and two nights, and safaris of a longer duration around Tarutao National Park for six days and five nights, Phang Nga Bay and Tarutao for seven days and five nights.

Horse Racing is cruel - 3 deaths during filming HBO series

image from care2com - permission requested

The third horse died during filming HBO TV series so filming is cancelled.

John's comment:

I grew up near Santa Anita race track. There is nothing virtuous in horse racing.

Gambling is the WORST addiction, destroys more lives than any drugs. Racing - and polo - place incredible strain on horses.

I had a horse in Hawai'i. I never rode it, but raced it while jogging.

Guess what, I never won!
