Think before you buy a puppy

I love dogs - have six now but it has been up to 26 before there was a "Soi Dogs" here in Phuket .

However, puppy mills are no way to have dogs.

In addition to the countless inhumane problems, there is a "Humane Society" shelter that murders dogs aftr three days near you.

Save a dog from the pound, and forget puppy mills.

(Ed - thanks John AND don't forget that puppies grow up)

Socrates and Thailand

Not many people remember but Socrates was against the 'Democracy' which was emerging in Ancient Greece....

"Ideals belong in a world that only the wise man can understand". He had no particular beliefs on politics but did object to democracy, but disliked its Athenian form. Basically, he objected to any government that did not run on the basis of his ideas of perfect governance. Socrates refused to enter politics because he could not tell other people how to lead their lives when he didn't know how to live his own. He thought he was a philosopher of truth, which he had not fully discovered. Towards the end of his life, democracy was supplanted by the Thirty Tyrants for around one year, before being restored. For Socrates, the Thirty Tyrants were no better and arguably worse rulers than the democracy they sought to replace."

America is proud of itself and that you are unable to buy a vote with any amount of money BUT you can give all this money to the Ad Agencies and the Television - I am not sure that this is what Socrates meant when he conceptualised 'democracy'.

Do not forget - I can live but I cannot vote in Thailand - what would Socrates made of this?

Don't Kill Sea Turtles!

photo from profauna - permission requested
ProFauna activists staged a demonstration against sea turtle slaughter in Bali yesterday, 11th July 2012. The campaign is to invite the public not to kill sea turtles and other protected wildlife for meat consumption.
I do not need to tell you any more!

Go Vegan

I've been vegan since the early 80's when I was in cancer epidemiology. Not only does eating your relatives (mammals) lead to heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity, animal husbandry is a brutal way to treat and kill animals.

Can you imagine Jesus or Buddha killing a cow or a pig - or placing chickens in such brutal conditions their beaks must be cut so they won't peck each other's eyes out?

Chickens are fed "Ya-Ba" (amphetamines) so they will lay more eggs - and those drugs go right into the chickens and eggs you and your family eat.

Natural resources such as the Amazon Basin are destroyed for grazing, adding to global warming. The list of negatives goes on and one, adding to global warming and human starvation. I am "Ling Yai" and "Malaking Unggui" to show that we are all nothing but overgrown monkeys - primates eat fruits and nuts and so should you.
If you love Mother Earth, if your love your family, if you love yourself, return to your own natural genetics, and go vegan.
