A few of us in Hawai'i were onto this problem in the mid-1980's. Not only birds, but all marine animals are affected. Cetaceans (Marine Mammals) are very high risk.
In Thailand alone, I've collected 8.994 bags of marine rubbish from my kayak alone, leaving horribly painful arthritis in both thumbs. Clean-ups that I've organized have collected almost 1,000 more bags of marine rubbish.
Please join in the cause. Marine rubbish is a worldwide problem of human creation.
I challenge you to answer the question, "Are humans responsible enough to deserve our Mother Earth?"
No matter where you are, you can organize a clean-up - or simply do it yourself. If you don't live near an ocean, clean up a lake!
See you on the water, Ling Yai (Thai for 'Big Monkey') AKA John Caveman Gray
