I've been following Presidential elections since 1952 and cannot remember another ticket in either party with two jerks as bad as Romney and Ryan. Both are completely disconnected from voters and the mood of the Nation, a sign of the total lack of talent within the Republican Party. If you question my position, remember the Primary debates, with everybody from Newt Gingrich to Attila the Hun. Romney is the All American Nerd, and Paul Ryan a pitiful hatchet man - and it showed through the entire campaign.
There is a terrible dearth of talent on the Republican side, which smells like the party of self-interested millionaires who could care less about the Man on the Street - and they don't. Quite frankly, I was surprised they even made a go of it. The fact they lost with the contemptible Fox News and "Citizens United" ruling on their side only signifies a party that is completely out of touch with both the times and the electorate.
In fact, this is nothing new. In the 20th century the "Party of Lincoln" gave us a list of dullard and dishonest presidents - warmonger and big game hunter Teddy Roosevelt was the best of the bunch, and that wasn't much. Coolidge and Harding won't ever find Mount Rushmore, nor will Nixon or Reagan (who the LA Times did not endorse in 1980 because they knew his terrible history as California Governor). Then came the two Bush's. The only real Presidential "timber" the Republicans brought to the White House was Eisenhower - and now the Tea Party takes this lackluster group to the Right Wing ropes.
Paul Ryan has the heart of an ice cube, and Romney is the guy you invite to the party so everybody else looks like they have a personality. I was amazed they got so far. Just look at the primary debates to see how out of touch the Republicans are - there wasn't a one I would bother socializing with.
BTW, I'm registered Republican because I grew up with Honest Ike, but the last real talent I've seen in the party was Nelson Rockefeller.
Why should schoolchildren learn how to spell "Republican"
when "Jerk" is only a four letter word!?
