This will have profound negative impact upon the tourism industry. Many companies will go out of business, and Phuket will develop a negative image that may have permanent damage.
The traffic solutions are "none" and "worse" and only Italian-Thai will benefit.
T.I.T
As usual, the lack of planning and foresight is non-existant.
Feeder roads should be widened and beefed up 2 years in advance of the construction, and the only goal of the underpass is to eliminate the traffic light (which never read correctly anyway) and make money for the contractor.
The temporary overpass sugestion makes to much sense to ever happen in Thailand, and the real solution is a Skytrain network anyway.
Why waste money on the underpass when what we really need is Skytrain?
(It can be done on the bypass road.) That will happen after underpass construction is completed - making the underpass (and the funds it consumes) redundant.
